Acupuncture

Acupuncture addresses the whole person, not just the parts…

Within the web of the body, acupuncture works to remove energetic blockages and functional obstructions that cause pain, discomfort and disease, bringing circulation and vitality to weak and underserved tissues.  An acupuncturist uses fine flexible needles, inserted into specific acupoints on the body, to restore a harmonious interrelationship of its many systems. These fine “antennae” promote the flow of blood and Qi (life force) throughout the body and its organs along channels known as “meridians.” Balancing and opening these meridians promotes optimal well-being and healthy function.

Acupuncture has been shown to effectively support the body in resolving many types of conditions: Headaches, Nausea, Gastrointestinal issues, Gynecological disorders, Pain, including muscle, back and neck pain, localized traumatic injuries, Fibromyalgia, Allergies, Asthma, Sinusitis and other Respiratory disorders, Anxiety, Insomnia and symptoms related to PTSD, to name just a few.

For further reference, see: list of common ailments treated by acupuncture.

Craniosacral Therapy

Involves gentle, intelligent touch to the bones, soft tissues and fluids that surround the central nervous system. It may promote the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, breath, and the unwinding of deep constrictive patterns of tension and torsion in the body.   It can relieve pain and address a multitude of ailments caused by injury or stress–headaches, nervous system disorders, spinal issues, fibromyalgia, even depression and insomnia. Craniosacral Therapy is available by request only. by phone the office directly to schedule.

Moxibustion

A traditional form of Chinese heat therapy, moxibustion utilizes the burning of mugwort, or artemesia vulgaris, in various forms to stimulate the flow of Qi, support blood flow, stimulate the immune system and promote health.  Indirect methods of moxibustion are used, producing a pleasant heating sensation that penetrates deep into the skin while producing no pain or scarring.

Cupping

Cupping is a suction-based method of healing that brings yin and yang within the body into balance. Through increasing blood circulation to specific tissues, thereby promoting cell repair, cupping can reduce pain, and increase resilience. Modern methods involve the use of a small glass or rubber cup, sometimes heated and applied to the skin. As the cup cools, it creates a vacuum that draws the skin and muscle gently inside. Blood vessels respond to the change in pressure, increasing blood flow, and facilitating cell repair, promoting healing tissue and a return to optimal balance.

Flow

Grounded in the brilliant work of chiropractor Lance Wright, D.C., “Flow,” or Flowtrition is a gently penetrating modality of touch and compassionate attention that fosters ease, self awareness, and the integration of life experiences stored in the body and spine as tension. It is a conversation with the nervous system; a nourishing reset and a great counterbalance to stress that initiates healing change from within.

Acupressure (Tui Na)

Acupressure seeks to clear energetic blockages in the body. It employs manual pressure along channels and at specific points on the body to promote the flow of Qi through the body’s meridians. Through addressing underlying imbalances, acupressure allows greater connection to internal resources for recovery and well being, while offing an alternative to those seeking the benefits of acupuncture without using needles.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a natural, non-invasive massage method involving the use of implements which, when scraped across the skin, stimulate microcirculation of the the body’s soft tissues, increasing blood flow. Gua Sha breaks up stagnant Qi, promoting optimal functioning of the body’s tissues and reducing inflammation. Chronic pain as well as many other conditions have been linked to inflammation, and as such Gua Sha is a popular form of alternative treatment for arthritis and fibromyalgia

NAET

Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique, or NAET, is a non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to alleviate allergic symptoms of all types. It does involve multiple sessions in a course of treatment.
